Leading suppliers of textile-care technology cancel their participation – Texcare International will not take place in 2021
Leading suppliers of laundry and dry-cleaning technology have used the free cancellation deadline offered by Messe Frankfurt against the background of the pandemic and cancelled their participation in Texcare International 2021 shortly before expiry. In view of this the Advisory Council of the world’s leading textile-care fair have voted to cancel Texcare International for this year because its success can no longer be guaranteed.
Safe in-person trade fairs in Frankfurt
The first in-person trade fairs have already taken place. Messe Frankfurt is ready to resume in-person events with its proven safety and hygiene concept and requirement that everyone be vaccinated, recovered or tested. The first events have already been held successfully, and the next in-person events will be opening their doors in Frankfurt in September.
97 percent of companies want to continue participating in trade fairs
That was the finding of the second round of Messe Frankfurt’s customer survey. Known as the Customer Care Campaign (CCC), the survey was first conducted in autumn 2020 and then repeated in spring 2021. The goal was for local sales partners to contact Messe Frankfurt’s customers during the coronavirus pandemic, inform them of trade fair cancellations and support their efforts to participate in current and future trade fairs – all while invigorating Messe Frankfurt’s sales network.
Trade fair relaunch successful: Nordstil ends with significant increase in exhibitors and visitors
As one of the first and few physical trade fairs this year, the Summer Nordstil offered the long-awaited opportunity over three days to meet in person, to engage in conversation as well as to order directly on site - and thus attracted 70 percent more visitors to Hamburg than to last year's event.
New partnership between trade show companies Messe Frankfurt and Messe Friedrichshafen focuses on innovative mobility
Friedrichshafen and Frankfurt am Main, Germany – The Messe Frankfurt and Messe Friedrichshafen trade show companies are planning a new joint venture to strengthen their collective market position and further develop their leading trade shows in the fields of general aviation and urban mobility, the latter with bicycles as its driving force. The aim of the joint venture, to be known as fairnamic GmbH, will be to combine the performance capabilities of the two companies in order toaccompany the global mobility shift, particularly in urban areas, in its best way possible living up to be a truly global leading trade show. Eurobike is thus undergoing a comprehensive change of concept, which will include a relocation of the leading trade show from Lake Constance to Frankfurt starting in 2022.
Messe Frankfurt aiming for €500 million in sales in 2022
Messe Frankfurt is ready to start up again. Speaking at the Corporate Press Conference earlier today, Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt, said: “If the pandemic situation continues to improve, we have every confidence that we will be able to get fully started again in all areas in 2022. We are aiming for sales of over €500 million.”
Achema in Frankfurt until at least 2027
Messe Frankfurt and Dechema are extending their cooperation. The Frankfurt exhibition grounds will remain the venue for Achema, World Forum and Leading International Trade Fair for the Process Industry, until at least 2027.

Cleanzone paused in 2021

Messe Frankfurt charged with overseeing record number of German Pavilions in 2021
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has commissioned Messe Frankfurt to organise and run 25 German Pavilions in the coming year. That is the result of the autumn meeting of the Foreign Trade Fair Participation working group at AUMA (Association of the German Trade Fair Industry). Texcare International to take place in November 2021
Texcare International will be postponed and will take place in Frankfurt am Main from 27 November to 1 December 2021. Due to the economic situation caused by the Corona pandemic and the travel restrictions which are to be expected, Messe Frankfurt has decided this jointly with the German Textile Cleaning Association and the VDMA Textile Care, Fabric and Leather Technologies.

As a result, retailers can place their orders with the connected suppliers around the clock and thus independently of current official measures.
Messe Frankfurt takes over management of Process Expo in Chicago, USA
Messe Frankfurt is continuing its collaboration with the American industrial association FPSA (Food Processing Suppliers Association), owner of the trade fair Process Expo. As of 1 May 2020 Messe Frankfurt's North American subsidiary will take over the management of Process Expo.
New dates: Automechanika Frankfurt and Light + Building
In light of the current situation regarding the corona pandemic, Messe Frankfurt and its customers, partners and supporting associations have agreed to postpone Automechanika Frankfurt and Light + Building that were originally scheduled to take place in September 2020. Alternative dates have already been found for both trade fairs: Automechanika Frankfurt will be held from 14 to 18 September 2021, while the biennial Light + Building will be held as planned in the next even-numbered year, from 13 to 18 March 2022.
Cancellation of Summer Nordstil 2020
In response to the recent decisions of the German government to contain the Corona pandemic, the upcoming Summer Nordstil 2020 has been cancelled. In mid-April, the federal and state governments agreed on a ban on major events until 31 August 2020. The summer edition of the order platfom, which would have taken place from 25 to 27 July 2020, falls within the period of this ban.
Tendence 2020 cancelled
In response to the worsening situation concerning the coronavirus pandemic and in view of the current challenges facing German and European retailers, Tendence 2020 has been cancelled. This means that Nordstil in Hamburg, from 25 to 27 July 2020, will be the first opportunity for pre-order suppliers for spring and summer 2021, as there will be no other order trade fairs for these product lines this year.
Messe Frankfurt, in close cooperation with the Frankfurt Health Authority, has decided to cancel Luminale at short notice. It was to be held in Frankfurt and Offenbach from 12 to 15 March.
Musikmesse 2020 postponed / the regional events ‘Musikmesse Plaza’ and ‘Musikmesse Festival’ to go ahead as planned
Given the increasing spread of Covid-19 in Europe, Messe Frankfurt has decided to postpone Musikmesse 2020. The health of exhibitors, visitors, contractors and employees has top priority for Messe Frankfurt. The new dates will be announced in the near future. Visitor admission tickets continue to be valid.
Postponed: Light + Building to be held in September 2020
In view of the increasing spread of the coronavirus in Europe and after intensive consultations, Messe Frankfurt has decided to postpone Light + Building. The world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology will now be held in Frankfurt am Main between the middle and end of September 2020. The cooperation partners of the international trade fair, ZVEI and ZVEH, support this decision.
Ambiente 2020 impacted by coronavirus and Ciara
Trends, new products and international business – these are traditionally at the focus of Ambiente in Frankfurt, which took place from 7 to 11 February 2020. The world’s largest consumer goods trade fair had grown to 4,635 exhibitors  from 93 countries , covering 310,240 gross sqm . Ambiente was the first leading trade fair to be affected by the impact of the coronavirus on travelling. Another clearly noticeable factor was Storm Ciara. Business in the halls, however, did not suffer as much as expected, and, in all, large numbers of orders were placed throughout the trends and new products platform. Nevertheless, exhibitors were disappointed with the strong sense of uncertainty among visitors and therefore the absence of quite a few retail channels. Yet those who did travel to Frankfurt benefited from an outstanding ordering environment.
New Hall 5 construction project begins
Demolition of Hall 5 has now begun on the exhibition grounds. The removal of the exhibition hall, which was constructed from 1971 to 1972 on the basis of a design by the architect Martin Schoenmaker, should be completed by the end of March 2020. Construction of the new exhibition hall, designed by Frankfurt architectural office Gruber + Kleine-Kraneburg, should commence in April 2020, and the building is expected to enter operation in 2023.

With a content-driven programme, the 50th edition of Heimtextil delivered strong impetus for the start of the new furnishing season. Sustainability was placed firmly at top of the agenda, outshining all other topics. 63,000 visitors gathered information about the major themes dominating the international industry from 2,952 exhibitors at the world's leading trade fair for home and contract textiles. As expected, the unusually early date led to a drop in visitor numbers.*
Michael Biwer is the new Vice President of Guest Events
Michael Biwer (39) has been at the helm of the Guest Events division at Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH since January 2020. In this function, he is responsible for some 280 guest fairs, congresses, conferences, concerts and other events every year. Biwer reports to Uwe Behm, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt GmbH.

Messe Frankfurt has continued its profitable growth course in financial year 2019, its key performance indicators remaining at a consistently high level. The company is expecting sales to be in the region of €733 million. Approximately 99,000 exhibitors and almost five million visitors attended the 400-plus events held under the Messe Frankfurt umbrella during the year. The construction of the new Hall 5 and the development of a hotel and office high-rise building and new South Entrance are set to further cement the status of the Frankfurt exhibition grounds as one of the most state-of-the-art inner-city exhibition venues anywhere in the world.
Intelligently networked mobility: Hypermotion strengthens key partnerships
Frankfurt has established itself as a meeting place for the pioneers of future mobility and logistics. From 26 to 28 November 2019, technology drivers and experts met to find new solutions in the fields of traffic, transport, infrastructure and logistics. This year marked the first time that the German Mobility Congress (DMK) and the STUVA Conference, an event devoted to the tunnel industry, were also able to welcome their guests to the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. Around 3,000 participants networked with the goal of advancing the mobility transition.

Cleanzone 2019 – a wealth of innovations for high-tech industries

Messe Frankfurt veranstaltet Salon du Chocolat in Russland
Messe Frankfurt RUS OOO, die russische Tochtergesellschaft der Messe Frankfurt, erweitert ihr Portfolio an Messen für Lebensmitteltechnik. Sie richtet künftig den Salon du Chocolat Moscow für den branchenführenden Veranstalter Chocoloco International SA in Lizenz aus. Der Salon du Chocolat Moscow ist die einzige Fachmesse, die ausschließlich der Produktionstechnik für Kakao-, Schokoladen- und Konfiseriewaren gewidmet ist. Neben der 2015 übernommenen Modern Bakery Moscow hat die russische Tochtergesellschaft nun zwei Messen für Lebensmitteltechnik im Portfolio. Die 8. Auflage des Salon du Chocolat in Russland findet vom 19. bis 21. März 2020 statt.
Nextrade has gone live: The first retailers are using the platform
The digital order and data platform Nextrade has succeeded in reaching an impressive milestone – well ahead of schedule: The B2B marketplace has now been activated for retailers and has gone live with over 60 suppliers and 120,000 products. In early 2020 it will be rolled out throughout Europe.
Messe Frankfurt launches new platform for stand constructors
In the fast-paced trade fair business, stand constructors and event agencies need a comprehensive source of up-to-the-minute information that can be accessed at any time. Messe Frankfurt returns to second China International Import Expo
Following the success in 2018 of both the inaugural fair and the Messe Frankfurt Group’s participation, the company will once again exhibit at the 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE) alongside more than 3,000 other international companies from 150 countries and regions. The second CIIE will be held in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November.
Tendence 2020: new dates and extended to four days

Messe Frankfurt acquires license to organise Busworld in India, further strengthening its mobility segment
Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of the Group, has acquired the license to organise Busworld - the world’s leading B2B exhibition for the bus and coach sector from Busworld International CVBA. The agreement strengthens Messe Frankfurt’s position as the leading exhibition organiser for the mobility segment. Busworld India 2020, the 9th edition in the series, will be organised in Bengaluru.
Messe Frankfurt opens window to the city
Messe Frankfurt wants to make its trade fair activities more visible and transparent for passers-by on the east side of Hall 1. A competition carried out in 2017 with a view to creating additional restaurant units in the hall (approx. 18,000 m²) made it clear that only a strong design element would bring about a new and significant external impact.

Tendence 2019: Summer heat and cool trends
Clearly structured by trading forms, lifestyles and target groups, Tendence 2019 focused even more closely on the needs of customers. For three days, 603 exhibitors presented their fashionable lifestyle and trend products. The trade fair’s new, modified concept, numerous events and live presentations contributed to the positive mood among exhibitors and visitors. Despite the summer heatwave, the wide range of products on show were enthusiastically received by the 15,000 trade visitors  – putting them in a buying mood and encouraging them to place orders and make contacts.

Messe Frankfurt continues to grow
Messe Frankfurt’s growth continued in the past financial year too. Speaking at the Corporate Press Conference earlier today, Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Messe Frankfurt, announced: “We succeeded in setting a new record of around €718 million in sales”.
Philipp Ferger appointed Managing Director of nmedia GmbH
Messe Frankfurt has acquired a stake in nmedia GmbH, the European market leader in the field of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), with which it is setting up the Group’s “Nextrade” digital B2B marketplace. Philipp Ferger has been appointed second Managing Director of nmedia GmbH effective 1 June 2019 and will share management responsibilities with Nicolaus Gedat.

Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound 2019: international, professional and innovative with a host of event highlights
A week full of music, entertainment, business and inspiration ended on Saturday evening with a concert given by Gregory Porter and the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt orchestra in the ‘Festhalle’. At Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound, artisanry met high-tech, violins met virtual reality and digital networking met personal encounters. The accompanying Musikmesse Festival not only presented highlight concerts by Samy Deluxe, Mousse T. & Glasperlenspiel, Tony Carey and other stars at the Exhibition Centre but also filled around 50 clubs and hotels in Frankfurt with music. At the new Musikmesse Plaza, music fans came into their own after the trade fairs with a pop-up market including direct sales and numerous events on Saturday.
Change in management at Messe Frankfurt USA and South Africa
Effective 1 April 2019, Konstantin von Vieregge, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt South Africa, will be moving to Atlanta to assume the position of President at Messe Frankfurt Inc. He will be succeeded by Joshua Low, who has already been Group Exhibition Director at Messe Frankfurt South Africa since June 2017.

Messe Frankfurt is renovating Hall 6
By the time the Frankfurt Book Fair opens its doors on 16 October 2019, featuring Norway as this year’s partner country, the technical revitalisation of Hall 6 will have come to an end. Designed by architect Martin Schoenmakers and brought into operation in time for the 1963 Spring Fair, the exterior and interior of Hall 6 – which is somewhat larger than its sister building Hall 5 – will look like new again.
Simon Mellor to take over as Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Middle East
As of March, Simon Mellor will be the new Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Middle East, Messe Frankfurt’s subsidiary in Dubai. He will be taking over from Ahmed Pauwels, who has decided to leave the company for personal reasons.
Messe Frankfurt to switch over entirely to renewable energy
As of event year 2020, Messe Frankfurt will be changing over completely to green power, sourcing 100 percent of its electricity from renewable energy. This includes the power supply for the stands, halls and exhibition grounds at the company’s Frankfurt base. For Messe Frankfurt, the world’s largest trade fair organiser with its own exhibition grounds, the move away from conventional energy sources is a further milestone in implementing its long-term strategic measures in the field of sustainability. This means that Messe Frankfurt is setting the pace for German trade fair companies in this regard as well. The company’s cooperation partner is Frankfurt-based energy service provider Mainova AG.
Impressive increase in quality and visitors at Ambiente 2019
The world’s leading trade fair for consumer goods in Frankfurt has come to an end after five days, finishing in an excellent mood and with a rise in visitor numbers. 136,000 trade visitors from 166 countries came to Ambiente 2019, ordering the latest products from the entire world for their businesses and obtaining inspiration for their merchandise presentation at the POS as well as new ideas for the digital future.
