Hall 5 is finished!

After a construction period of almost three years, the new Hall 5 is going into operation. Work began back in April 2020.

Minutely planned: the new Hall 5 on the site of its predecessor.

The new hall was designed by Frankfurt firm Büro Gruber + Kleine-Kraneburg Architekten. Planning and implementation were particularly challenging because the previous building had been woven closely into the architecture of the grounds between the Congress Center, Hall 6 and the Via Mobile moving walkway. As you can see in the time-lapse film, everyone involved in the building process delivered top performance.

The new Hall 5 is large and flexible with a total exhibition space of 18,110 square metres on two levels and a foyer with over 1,250 square metres. One striking feature of the new building is its gold-coloured folded metal façade. From Level 5.1, visitors can access the Congress Center’s Harmonie hall directly. In the opposite direction, Hall 5 has a direct connection to the neighbouring Hall 6. This means that events of different sizes can be combined with congresses. The Hall 5 has a ‘green roof’ planted with sedum sprouts. These are good for the microclimate and have a cooling effect on hot days.

Incidentally, the new Hall 5 even set a new record for exhibition space with its very first event. The trade fair trio of Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld is the largest ever Messe Frankfurt consumer goods event to be held at its Frankfurt base. It covers 352,950 square metres of exhibition space while playing host to almost 4,600 exhibitors.
