The Korea Railways & Logistics Fair, also known as RailLog Korea, is Asia’s foremost business and networking platform for railways, infrastructure and logistics industries, which takes place biennially in Busan, South Korea – the natural starting point of the Trans-Asian railway network.

The eighth edition of RailLog Korea will take place from 14 – 17 June 2017 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center – BEXCO in Busan, and is hosted by Busan Metropolitan City, Korea Railroad and the Korea Rail Network Authority. The fair has been jointly organised by Messe Frankfurt Korea Ltd and BEXCO since 2003.

As an eco-friendly alternative of road transportation, railway business is dynamic in Korea, in part due to the government’s wide range of investment in the development of railway technology, train vehicles and infrastructure. The Korean government recently announced the third national railroad development plan, an ambitious project aiming to upgrade existing railway systems that would establish a network for high‑speed and semi-high speed trains shortening the overall travel time within Korea. According to the plan, when the network is fully established by 2025, 85% of the entire Korean population will benefit from high or semi-high speed trains. The plan is estimated to cost about US$60 billion, with the central government covering about 70 percent.

“As one of the world’s leading industry-specific marketplaces, RailLog Korea offers global suppliers and buyers a future glance at railway industries in Korea and other parts of Asia. The fair aims to continue growing and to hone its competitive edge on the market, armed with Messe Frankfurt’s global sales network that covers 175 countries and regions worldwide. Messe Frankfurt’s ‘Mobility & Logistics’ business field, including railway business, is expected to be further expanded in the coming years,” commented Mr Yong-Joon Jin, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Korea.

Mr Soo-In Lee, Director of BEXCO Exhibition Team, added: “RailLog Korea has been growing steadily in quality and size since its first edition in 2003. It currently offers 15,000 sqm gross but we are aiming for 18,000 sqm of space for the 2017 show.

Further growth is on the cards in 2017 when the fair will be expanded to cover Halls 1 and 2. We are also planning a comprehensive range of fringe programme events, including seminars and conferences, industrial tour programmes, and technical presentations.”

The previous edition of the fair, which was held in June 2015, attracted 15,125 visitors and 161 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions, including international brands such as Siemens, Voith Turbo, voestalpine BWG, Knorr-Bremse, Linsinger, Pandrol and Artesyn. In addition, Korea’s leading companies, Hyundai Rotem and Woojin Industrial System, exhibited their latest models of train vehicles at the fairground.

In 2015, Austria was declared as “Partner Country” which was highlighted by the first-ever Austria national pavilion as well as the Austria Railway Technology Seminar & Workshop together with a networking dinner, all of which were organised by the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy.
