19.04.2017 Motortec Automechanika Madrid 2017 has become the main automotive aftermarket business platform in southern Europe

A total of 685 exhibiting companies and 1,352 brands from 27 countries participated in this 14th event, representing an increase of 12%. The exhibition welcomed 56,448 visitors, registering a growth of 10% in relation to the previous event.

An extensive programme of activities with some 4,000 attendees ran in parallel to the commercial activity.

The trade fair brought together all actors involved in the aftermarket sector, highlighting and providing a comprehensive view of the professional ecosystem and the economic activities that it comprises.

Madrid, 29 March 2017- Motortec Automechanika Madrid, the big event for the automotive aftermarket sector, which was organised by IFEMA, was held from 15 to 18 March. By the close of this 14th event it had reinforced its leadership position in the automotive spare parts and components marketing industry for the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America and North Africa.  A total of 56.448 professionals visited the trade fair, an increase of 10% in relation to the last event held in 2015. The number of exhibitors also grew by 12%, with 685 companies from 27 countries, and the exhibition area increased by 23% to 39,014 net square metres dedicated to showcasing the aftermarket sector.

These figures confirm the favourable position of the aftermarket industry, which made Motortec Automechanika Madrid 2017 the most complete and valued exhibition in recent years. This view was shared by visitors, exhibitors, and institutions. This was confirmed by Benito Tesier, CEO of Brembo in Spain and President of SERNAUTO's Spare Parts Committee, who noted the "massive response of the sector attending the exhibition and great improvement in the level and quality of visitors". Similarly, "beyond the considerable increase in exhibitors and including the remarkable increase in visitors", says Miguel Ángel Cuerno, the President of ANCERA, underlining that the professionals attended Motortec AM to "do business, explore and arrange collaborations. This shows, on the one hand, that the sector is more dynamic than ever, and secondly, that Motortec's approach seduces and convinces the professionals and entrepreneurs from the aftermarket sector", he concluded.

The consolidation of Motortec Automechanika Madrid as a commercial platform and informative forum is also supported by the results of a study prepared by CONEPA, through a survey of 400 professionals who attended the show. A total of 90% of respondents assessed the fair very positively, considering it "interesting" or "very interesting"; 20% left the trade fair  with a a firm purchase commitment, while the remaining 60% believe  they will buy something within three months.

Increased product range and a multitude of parallel activities

In relation to the numerous demonstrations put on by the exhibitors and the extensive programme of technical seminars, Ana Ávila, Secretary General of CETRAA, highlights the constant flow of visitors to the practical demonstrations undertaken at  its stand. She also emphasised "the excellent  attendance at our Virtual Workshop, both in relation to access to technical information about vehicle connectivity  as well as for the calibration  of ADAS systems, the latter in collaboration with  Hella", she concluded.

The wide programme of technical seminars and activities at Motortec Automechanika Madrid, which added up to more than 200 hours, brought together 4,000 participants. There were a large number of round tables, lectures, workshops, showrooms, etc. addressing issues related to electromechanics, tyres, bodywork, spare parts, loss adjustment and service stations and which discussed the sector's current condition and the challenges that lie ahead. In this respect, Alexandre Ferreira, President of the Portuguese ANECRA, considered that "Motortec Automechanika Madrid 2017 was a great success. It is worth highlighting the significant growth in the floor space, in the number of exhibitors and the great diversity in the exhibits. On the other hand we feel very positive about the significant increase and the quality of the activities included in the programme of parallel activities".

Additionally, Motortec Automechanika Madrid also hosted the multisensory exhibition "25 years of the tyre at Motortec", in which it was possible to see the past, present and future of the tyre sector in our country and which received thousands of visitors.

Once again Motortec AM presented its Innovation Gallery, a space to promote sectoral R&D&i projects and solutions and in which 10 awards, 9 special mentions and 15 selected prizes were awarded to innovative projects and solutions and representatives of technological progress in the aftermarket sector.

In addition to this excellent selection of innovations, all of the exhibitors presented many innovative products and solutions on their stands in the area of repair, maintenance, spare parts, tyres, service stations and car washes, etc.

The traditional Workshop Race was also held as a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in the framework of Motortec Automechanika Madrid. The trade fair also welcomed the charity market organised by the Prodis Foundation.

Motortec Automechanika Madrid trade fair, organised by IFEMA, was held from 15 to 18 March in halls 1 -7 at the Feria de Madrid Exhibition Centre and it was inaugurated by Gregorio Serrano, Director General of Traffic.
