31.03.2014 Messe Frankfurt's Smartphone App receives "Digital Excellence Award" in the USA

Messe Frankfurt's Navigator App has won the "Digital Excellence Award“ in the category "Best Onsite Engagement with an App". The award ceremony took place on March 25, 2014 as part of the Social Media Summit in Washington D.C., USA.

Messe Frankfurt's interactive trade fair calendar was also nominated for a Digital Excellence Award in the category "Best CVB/location-based Digital Marketing Campaign" and achieved second place in the final round.

As the jury explained their decision to the leading US publication, EXPO magazine, "The new Navigator App, which is used for various Messe Frankfurt trade fairs, was downloaded over 25,000 times for Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound 2013 alone". And the app was even more popular at this year's Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound 2014, as it was downloaded 33,000 times.

"Of course we are very pleased to have received such recognition for our Navigator App, especially because it is coming from trade fair pros", says Kai Hattendorf, head of Messe Frankfurt's Digital Business division. "This award and recognition of our trade fair calendar clearly indicate that the products from our digital experts at dexperty are providing added value for our trade fair's exhibitors and visitors."

Trade fair visitors and exhibitors can use the "Navigator" smartphone app to receive all the information relevant to Messe Frankfurt trade fairs at a glance. In addition to exhibitor and product search features, this includes a news area, in which users can view all the current press releases and social media news from Twitter without further configuration. In addition to this, the app provides an overview of the entire exhibition centre with its map of the grounds and halls. GPS is used to show the user's current position. The "My People" feature can be used to create a network with friends, colleagues, exhibitors and customers, with whom you would like to keep in touch during the trade fair.

In 2012 Messe Frankfurt was presented with the "UFI ICT Award" for the best smartphone app in the trade fair industry by the global trade fair association UFI (Union des Foires Internationales).

The interactive Messe Frankfurt calendar has been online since spring of 2013 and provides an overview of Messe Frankfurt's events around the world. Exhibitors, visitors, business owners, industry associations, hotels and media representatives can thus remain up to date with regard to current and future events in their town or in their respective countries.
