15.04.2013 Messe Frankfurt with new digital exhibitor and product search

In 10 weeks more than a million search enquiries on trade fair sites
Since the beginning of 2013 Messe Frankfurt has offered its customers a completely new exhibitor and product search on its events' websites. With the new service it is possible to search with a search term according to product groups, new products, names and location of exhibitors, or even according to special interests. Visitors and exhibitors can thus gain a quick overview of what the trade fair offers and plan their trade fair visit more easily. In the editorial environment of the new search the exhibitors also have the opportunity to place their products or advertising formats with target groups in mind.

"The response to the new services has exceeded all expectations: in the first few weeks the number of search enquiries has already passed the million mark. The proportion of searches in relation to the traffic as a whole is substantially more than 20 percent within the time frame of the events," claims Kai Hattendorf, Head of the "Digital Business" division at Messe Frankfurt, who is responsible for the trade fair company's digital product and service portfolio under the Dexperty brand.

With dexperty to optimized Business Matching
dexperty – digital expertise by Messe Frankfurt – offers a steadily growing number of facilities: on the one hand for integrated digital communication all around events and, on the other hand, for the optimized planning of trade fair visits.

With a view specifically to the growing importance of so-called "business matching", trade fair and conference organizers invariably back up their events with bigger and bigger digital networks and platforms. These enable exhibitors and customers to conduct a targeted exchange of views beyond the actual period of the trade fair on 365 days in the year. "The number of exhibitor searches in the first few weeks demonstrates that the visitors are showing a better than average response to our new services", says Kai Hattendorf. Mobile devices – tablets and smartphones – are playing a rapidly growing role in this. "Following the increasing trend towards mobilization, we are providing event-related apps for our trade fairs. These offer not only the services which accompany the trade fair, such as exhibitor search for visitors, but also options for forging contacts and networking." Dexperty is therefore the first provider to introduce functions in apps for making targeted contacts during trade fairs – so-called "Buddyfinder" services.

Targeted approach to specialist public
Web services geared to target groups are now standard at every trade fair. It can currently be observed that, beyond the classic sponsoring packages, new digital spaces are emerging for exhibitors to present their brands. After all, the exhibitors also have to pay more attention to connecting up their online services with the content, service tools and platforms for digital business matching published by the trade fair.

In order to make use of the highly varied possibilities the new services offer, exhibitors therefore already link their content via various touchpoints. With its online communities for specialist events Messe Frankfurt also offers exhibitors and visitors ideal platforms for exchanging views, networking and business matching.
