05.07.2017 Paperworld 2018: special show ‘Future Office’ puts emphasis on health and safety

New: numerous brand manufacturers to exhibit in the area dedicated to health in the workplace

Paperworld 2018 is all set to provide new insights into the ‘Future Office’. The second edition of this special show in Hall 3.0, which celebrated its successful debut in 2017, will concern itself with health. From 27 to 30 January 2018, the ‘Future Office’ will be all about the well-being and health of office staff. With this as its emphasis, the leading international trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery in Frankfurt am Main will be spotlighting a hot topic for the sector and its future, as far as offices are concerned.

A healthy, safe workplace with opportunities for personalisation of design and for being able to withdraw to a quiet space are crucially important, if motivation and productivity of the staff are to be maintained. That is why companies are increasingly investing in the promotion and management of health. What that might look like in reality and what possibilities exist for creating a ‘healthy’ working environment are all things that visitors to the trade fair can expect to find out, first hand, at Paperworld.

“The German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has established that employees take around 15 days a year off sick – and this figure is increasing annually. It is an area where companies need to act. I am pleased that we shall be laying emphasis on this important topic of health in the ‘Future Office’ special show at the up-coming Paperworld, and shall be presenting some suggestions for solutions. There will certainly be lots of new discoveries for visitors, be it in the special show itself or in the specialist lectures and guided tours,” says Michael Reichhold, Director of Paperworld.

How does the ‘Bad Office’ become the ‘Healthy Office’?

The design concept for the special show is once again in the hands of the architectural firm of Matter, with internationally renowned architect André Schmidt from Berlin and the highly regarded architectural platform ‘World-Architects’.

“The design is based on the idea that you only become aware of the negative factors when you use the office on an everyday basis,” explains architect André Schmidt. That is why the central point is the ‘Bad Office’, where life is loud, crowded, hectic and uncomfortable. Visitors start from here and wander through the ‘Healthy Office’, which provides them with positive and opposing impressions. Six areas contribute to an overall healthy office atmosphere: the office space, furniture, catering, working practices, staff and task, and these are all explored one by one in the dedicated special show. So, visitors trace a path through individual locations with acoustic experiences and lighting scenarios. They can try out a display of seating and get information about the quality of meals and about bio-rhythms; they can experience the atmosphere in quiet areas, to which people can go and discuss their new impressions in a café. In addition, there is some highly relevant and useful information to be had in specialist lectures and guided tours. The topics, which are aimed at specific target groups, change daily.

New in 2018: exhibition space for brand manufacturers

“The content of the special exhibition is aimed at architects, facility managers and planners, as well as at retailers of office supplies, equipment, fittings and furnishings. Thematically appropriate lectures and guided tours are currently being worked out for both target groups,” says Reichhold. Also new in 2018 is an additional exhibition area within the special show, in which brand manufacturers can present to visitors their products relating to acoustics, lighting, air quality, hygiene, ergonomics, sustainability, furniture and office supplies. Companies that have already signed up include Durable Hunke & Jochheim GmbH & Co. KG, Jakob Maul GmbH, Legamaster GmbH, Novus Dahle GmbH & Co. KG, Casio Europe GmbH and Tesa SE. Guided tours will take participants to other exhibitors who provide equipment and services for the office.
