Officially known as Hall 2,
the Festhalle represents much more than this simple name suggests. It is an
important symbol of the exhibition grounds of its time. The Festhalle was
planned by the well-known Munich architect Friedrich von Thiersch. As the
largest self-supporting dome structure in the world, the Festhalle was hailed
as a wonder of modern architecture at its inauguration in 1909.
The Festhalle is a
quick-change artist, capable of hosting international congresses and
exhibitions and sport and music festivals. But it is also used for trade fairs.
The Festhalle serves as the venue for all our special events and is a peerless
location for any sort of function. It has a 100 year tradition of hosting gala
celebrations.
The total exhibition space in
the Festhalle is almost 6,000 square metres. Inside you will find numerous
offices, three conference rooms and all important service facilities. Inside,
there is space for up to 13,500 visitors (without chairs).
