02.02.2012 22nd edition of Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, the perfect business platform for entering the Japanese market

  • Fair welcomes “Creative Direction” team for concept planning and enhanced synergy between the spring and autumn fairs
  • Fair highlights include “Feel Good Store”, “Next” and “Talents”

Interior Lifestyle Tokyo which consists of Ambiente Japan, Heimtextil Japan and Home Design Japan, is the leading international design-oriented trade fair representing the Asian interior market. It takes place each June and is followed every autumn by IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living, another highly successful international fair showcasing high-end products. Both fairs provide an indispensable platform and destination for buyers and sellers involved in various consumer goods worldwide.

Overseas products are imported through trading companies and then proceed through the distribution process via wholesalers and dealers to retailers in Japan, so it is essential for foreign companies to find stable sales channels. The fairs ensure excellent opportunities for foreign companies that are interested in entering the Japanese market to establish a firm business foundation.

Interior Lifestyle Tokyo is preparing for its 22nd edition to be held from 6 to 8 (Wed-Fri) June 2012 at Tokyo Big Sight. In 2011, the fair included 521 exhibitors and attracted 24,085 visitors. The fair survey conducted during the fair showed already that 99.1% of the exhibitors were considering exhibiting again this year, and 97.6% of the visitors would revisit the fair.

Fair goes through a landmark change for the first time welcoming “Creative Direction”

In 2012, Interior Lifestyle Tokyo will offer a landmark change for the first time. The fair welcomes the “Creative Direction” team made up of four leading experts in the interior design industry commissioned with creating new concepts and events. The team members include young Tokyo designer Dan Namura with a lineage back to the Yuzenzome craft of dyeing and weaving the Kimono fabrics of Kyoto. The special design of Interior Lifestyle Tokyo, one of the significant characteristics of the fair, will be entirely renewed offering a wide range of key elements from trends to new talents. This exciting renewal will enhance the fair’s attraction and increase the synergy with IFFT/Interior Lifestyle Living in October.

Fair highlights include the “Feel Good Store” suggesting inspiring business ideas and “Next” and “Talents” for young designers and design companies

Interior Lifestyle Tokyo attracts high-end interior design products from all over the world that suggest eye-opening lifestyle ideas and present stylish space designing. The fair’s product zones will now have a clearer concept and the series of leading events will become even more compelling.

Among the events, the Atrium Highlight is a must-visit sight. In 2012, the theme for this special feature is the "Feel Good Store". With the constantly growing demand for a more comfortable lifestyle, this highlight will present the ‘Feel Good’ concept through themes such as ‘Travel’, ‘Smile’, ‘Living’ and ‘Ethical’ all of which are derived from the concept of relaxation and comfort. The “Feel Good Store” will focus on Visual Merchandising (VMD) and offer a relevant section offering insightful business ideas on running a store by collaborating with exhibitors’ brands and products.

“Next” and “Talents” are also featured highlights both of which will focus on providing business opportunities for talented young designers and entrepreneurs. “Talents” is a business platform for talented young designers to propose new ideas and designs while “Next” offers a promotional program for young entrepreneurs to approach design-oriented products and ideas, and provide initial business experience. The organizer is looking for young talents from inside and outside Japan who are passionate about making a leap forward.
