27.09.2011 Texworld Paris, Final Flash Result: A success with 4.5 % more visitors, satisfied exhibitors and an optimistic outlook

  • Texworld a success with 4.5 % more visitors, satisfied exhibitors and an optimistic outlook for the next edition of the fair
  • Creativity dominates at the heart of Texworld
  • Great interest and a large number of visitors interested in sustainable development and the Sustainability Day

Lifting the veil was the theme of the Trend prepared by the artistic directors of Texworld. And the fair also unveiled a new season with a good, optimistic outlook and a 4.7 % increase in the number of visitors. Altogether, 15,424 visitors passed through the doors of the four-day fair held last week at Paris Le Bourget Exhibition Centre.

As in the past, the increase in visitor numbers came primarily from Europe, especially France, Great Britain, Italy, Turkey and Spain. Only The Netherlands stood out with a significant decline compared to the last fair in September 2010. Buyers from the USA, Canada and Brazil were also present in larger numbers ending a negative tendency.

There was a 12 % increase in the number of visitors from Asia whereby the countries best represented in Paris were China, India, South Korea, Pakistan and Hong Kong. Particularly striking is the unexpected 12 % increase in the number of African visitors. These figures demonstrate the vitality and excellence of the range of products and services offered at the fair, which attract visitors from all over the world.

The exhibitors of Texworld are satisfied with the results of the fair, which initially looked to be in for a hard time given the current economic situation. In the event, they welcomed visitors with a great potential, took interesting orders and made high-grade contacts. Texworld is one of the world’s best business fairs and has developed firm bonds to buyers thanks to the quality of the product range shown, the competitive prices and vibrant creativity.

Michael Scherpe, President of Messe Frankfurt France, explains: “We are delighted with the results of our efforts because Texworld is distinguished by an international spectrum of products that attracted 110 different nationalities thanks to the worldwide sales network of Messe Frankfurt, the leading organiser of fairs for the textile sector.”

A new fair for finished products – apparelsourcing – was held concurrently with Texworld in Hall 1. Thus, Messe Frankfurt now covers the entire supply chain for the fashion sector.

Detlef Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, remarked, “Texworld, apparelsourcing and the Ethical Fashion Show are important elements in the development of the fashion sector of the Messe Frankfurt Group. We are satisfied with the results and the complementary range of products to be seen at all three events.”

Creativity at the heart of Texworld

Creativity dominated Texworld with:

·    The trends prepared by Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud, the artistic directors of the fair are: ‘(Apo)(Calypsis): The Revelation’, Aube boréale (Northern Lights), Halo, source d’instincts and Crépuscule Artificiel (Artificial Twilight). These names were chosen to illustrate pure white, light, authenticity and glowing embers. Fragments of church windows and the fabric structures of the coming winter adorned these four palettes.

·    The Fabric Experience of Anne-Cecile Meignan, Eymeric Francois, Ingrid Fey, Laetitia Comettini, Fabien Nobile, Pasquale Morlando and Ute Auwarter, all fashion designers of the Fre(n)sh Fashion Committee, and Tristan Lahoz (winner of the Prix Homme de Dinard 2011). These designers lit up the fair with their sparks of creativity.

The seven designers of the Fre(n)sh Fashion Committee presented their wonderful creations in the inspiring atmosphere of the fashion and design studios. The project was developed in cooperation with the weavers and embroiderers who exhibit at the fair. This was not a simple exchange of information, but rather a genuine cooperation between designers and manufacturers. Together, they created fabrics fully in line with the demands of the fashion designers’ models. The same applied to the embroideries, such as those of Eymeric François, which were realised by the Indian KTC brand.

The designs of Tristan Lahoz – uncluttered lines, refined by clear and fresh colours – represented a perfect exercise in style. For visitors, this visit to the fashion designer workshops was a source of inspiration.

·    Designer&Fashion for Future aims to promote young people and took place with students of Esmod School of Fashion, Puy Sun Yee, Julien Couston and Adeline Astruc, who were able to put their creative designs into practice thanks to the fabrics supplied by Texworld exhibitors.

·    The trend conferences at Texworld, presented by artistic directors Louis Gérin and Grégory Lamaud, as well as the "Color&Surface Trend Forecast, Spring Summer 2013" conference by Cotton Incorporated were very well attended with almost 200 participants.

Great interest and a large number of visitors interested in sustainable development and the Sustainability Day

Texworld has always been a pioneer with its range of eco and environmentally friendly products and around 100 brands that offer fabrics of this kind. Buyers appreciate the spectrum of eco and environmentally friendly products to be seen at the fair.

In a special exhibition, Taiwan presented bio-functional fabrics from 10 national companies that make fabrics using eco materials. In the case of Ecomax, the materials come from recycling plastic bottles; in the case of Singtex, they come from processed coffee grounds and Handseltex used new fibres such as Sonora, which is based on maize.

Tuesday, 20 September was devoted to sustainable development in a conference block attended by over 200 people and facilitated by the sector’s five most important organisations: the Rite Group from Great Britain, the Soil Association, World Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP), Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Max Havelaar.

The next Texworld will be held in
Paris Le Bourget from 13 to 16 February 2012.
