Growth from home and abroad with visitors from 100 countries
An air of optimism in the sector and great exhibitor satisfaction with orders taken
Texcare International closed its doors after registering a three percent increase in the number of visitors. Altogether, a good 15,800 trade visitors from 100 countries attended the world’s leading trade fair for modern textile care in Frankfurt am Main from 5 to 9 May 2012 (2008: 15,275 visitors[1]). This is the result of equal growth in the number of both German and international visitors. Over half of all visitors (52 percent) come from outside Germany. The top ten visitor nations after Germany are Italy, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, Great Britain, the Russian Federation, Denmark and Sweden. For the five days of the fair, 264 exhibitors from 26 countries (2008: 261 exhibitors) presented their high-tech solutions and innovations for laundries, dry cleaners and textile-service providers. The focus of the presentations was on energy and resource-friendly technologies and systems for process optimisation, such as RFID and Real Time Management.
Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Messe Frankfurt, says, “The positive results and atmosphere at Texcare International leave no doubt about the important impulses generated by the world’s leading trade fair for the sector. Top decision makers from all around the globe travelled to Frankfurt to conduct business at the fair and to gain new customers. In particular, there were large increases in the number of visitors from countries such as Japan, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, Lebanon and Brazil.”
Accordingly, exhibitors rated visitors positively with regard to quantity and quality. 75 percent said they were extremely pleased with the level of visitor internationality and decision-making authority. Consequently, 85 percent of exhibitors said they had achieved their goals for the fair with a high level of sales, orders and new international contacts.
Elgar Straub, Director of VDMA Garment and Leather Technology said, “Texcare International has reinforced the overall positive mood in the sector. Both German and international exhibitors from the field of laundry and dry-cleaning technology are extremely pleased with the fair. Today, the focus on the customer side is on investments in new technology with the aim of conserving resources at the same time as increasing efficiency. Our members reported significant growth in the number of visitors from Italy, Russia, South America and the Middle East.”
89 percent of exhibitors rate the economic situation in the sector as being very good, an increase of five percent over the last Texcare International in 2008. 86 percent of visitors also shared this opinion. Moreover, 95 percent of visitors said they were extremely pleased with the range of products to be seen at the fair. Friedrich Eberhard, President of the German Dry Cleaning Association (Deutscher Textilreinigungsverband – DTV) said, “We from DTV had significantly more visitors than in 2008 and were able to hold numerous interesting discussions with exhibitors and trade visitors. With stimulating lectures by renowned experts, Texcare Forum was also very well attended. Texcare International offers an unparalleled blend of specialist knowledge coupled with the opportunity to see all the latest machines and equipment.”
The textile-service providers taking part were also very pleased with the extensive range of products on show at Texcare International. Klaus Jahn, Director of the Association of the Textile Service Industry (Industrieverband Textil Service – intex), says, “Texcare International has demonstrated its significance as the international forum for cultivating contacts and is indispensable for the sector. Thus, against the background of the favourable economic climate, the mood at this year’s Texcare International was excellent. All exhibitors and visitors said they were satisfied. Texcare Forum and the fashion show were given a very good reception and are now essential aspects of the fair. All in all, trade visitors from all over the world were able to see the latest trends in the sector and gain a very good impression of the manufacturers’ capabilities. Thus, Texcare International has confirmed its reputation as the leading international trade fair for the sector in full.”
Particular interest was shown in the four days of lectures at the Texcare Forum, which attracted no less than 1,180 international visitors. The new subdivision into themed days was also very well received – Future Day, Innovation Day, Sustainable Day and Market Day offered detailed insights into subjects of particular interest to the sector. Texcare Forum was organised by Intex and DTV in cooperation with Messe Frankfurt.
One of the highlights of Texcare International was the fashion show entitled ‘The future world of workwear today’ at which manufacturers presented their latest collections and revealed the colour, style and function trends set to dominate workwear, professional apparel and protective garments in the industrial, health-care and tourism sectors.
