05.01.2012 Sweden teams up with M-Days

Mobile Future and M-Days enter into a partnership

Messe Frankfurt has entered into a joint venture with Sweden’s
‘Mobil:Business’ publication, which organises the two-day ‘Mobile
Future’ conference north of Stockholm every year. “We at M-Days are delighted to be working with ‘Mobil:Business’, a partner with great experience on the international plane”, says Klaus Reinke, Senior Vice President of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

M-Days, the congress & fair for the mobile internet will be held in
Frankfurt am Main on 1 and 2 February 2012. The German-
Swedish working relationship is based on the exchange of information between leading companies and key players from the
home of Nokia and Ericsson. “The cooperation builds on a rich
exchange of leading companies and industry innovators from the
home grounds of Nokia and Ericsson. “Germany is one of the most important markets for Nordic companies, not only because of the market volume. Traditionally, Germany and Sweden have a
common legacy in from the Hansa days, and the German market
has always been and continues to be one of the world’s most
important trading arenas”, says Anders Linger, Head of Business
Development at Mobil:Business and Mediaprovider Scandinavia
AB.

Android Market: Sweden beats the USA in terms of app
downloads per user

That the Swedes are enthusiastic about apps is confirmed by a
study on the Android market published by AndroidPIT in November 2011. According to the study, more apps per user are downloaded in Sweden on average per month than anywhere else in the world. Overall, the USA is the biggest market for app downloads with over 50 percent of the world market. When it comes to the number of active app downloader, however, Sweden comes top. The monthly average of more than five downloads per smartphone underscores the great interest in apps shown by the Swedes. They are closely followed by users in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Spain, who download an average of four apps per month. This is much more than US users, who download an average of just over two per month.

Hjalmar Windbladh to speak at M-Days

As one of the first steps in the partnership, Mobile:Business has
confirmed that Sweden’s legendary mobile entrepreneur, Hjalmar
Windbladh, will participate in the ‘OS Competition and Future
Scenarios in Mobile’ Keynote panel at M-Days 2012 in Frankfurt.
Microsoft acquired ‘Sendit’, Windbladh’s e-mail start-up, in 1999.
After a break, he achieved superstar status in 2006 when he
founded Rebtel, the world’s biggest independent mobile VOIP
software company. Windbladh is also the brains behind the social
gifting app, ‘Wrapp’, which he recently launched together with ex-Spotify CTO Andreas Ehn, and is backed financially by the Londonbased Atomico investment group of Skype founder Niklas
Zennströms. “With our great line-up, we are really looking forward to M-Days. We anticipate finding new, exciting business opportunities with carriers, consumer brands, media companies, etc., in the mobile business. At the event, we will provide a rich smögåsbord of innovative companies for utility services, mobile ad networks, VOIP, user experience, mobile development and next-generation mobile marketing solutions", says Tomas Bennich, head of the Swedish delegation for M-Days.
