20.01.2012 E-Mail, News and Social Networking are the favourite activities for mobile users

Market research company comScore presents results of its latest research at M-Days

In the EU5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and UK), the top mobile category is Personal Email with over 65.4 million mobile users accessing it in EU5 during the 3 month average ending November 2011, while News, Weather, and Social Networking are showing strong growth. Amongst the categories accessed daily, the fastest growing category is General Reference, including sites such as BBC, Wikipedia and IMDB. Jeremy Copp, Vice President for Mobile of comScore Europe, will be presenting latest insights, market data and trends at the M-Days, the congress fair for the mobile internet on February 1st and 2nd 2012 in Frankfurt am Main.

The latest research from comScore shows, that the informative and social aspect of mobile is dominating the mobile activities. comScore MobiLens measures device trends and behaviour of mobile users (aged 13 years and above), and the resulting picture is quite clear. Comparing the EU5 countries in 2010 and 2011 (3 month average, ending in November), it emerges that the category Personal E-Mail stays on top with a growth of 41 percent. Social Networking ranks second with a growth of 45 percent. The third most accessed category in Europe was Weather, which might not come as a surprise.
