Global events industry giant and Frankfurt exhibition venue sign long-term agreement
Messe Frankfurt and UBM Live, a division of leading global B2B media business UBM plc, have signed a long-term co-operation agreement in Frankfurt. Over the next ten years, a number of major UBM flagship trade fairs will be a regular part of the autumn schedule on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds. These events include the sector leading CPhI (pharmaceutical ingredients), Food Ingredients Europe (ingredients for the food industry), Health Ingredients Europe (nutrition and Functional food supplements), ICSE (contract services), P-MEC (pharmaceutical machinery, equipment and technology) and InnoPack (innovations in pharmaceutical packaging).
"We are very proud to act as a partner to these large, industry-leading trade fairs that are renowned throughout the world", says Wolfgang Marzin, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Messe Frankfurt. "The UBM Live event portfolio is an excellent match for Messe Frankfurt's portfolio and areas of expertise. The themes covered by UBM Live help us to broaden the spectrum of events and industries in Frankfurt and become even more independent of economic fluctuations within individual sectors. In addition, this partnership represents a further step towards optimal utilisation of the exhibition grounds."
"We have selected Messe Frankfurt as a partner because the venue’s international character and reputation for quality reflect the values that are the hallmark of our portfolio," states Nik Rudge, Managing Director, UBM Live Food, Pharma & Middle East. "As many as nine out of ten attendees to our events come from beyond the event’s host country. As a capital of business and finance that is easy to reach from around the globe, Frankfurt offers our exhibitors and visitors an outstanding infrastructure and a wide selection of hotels of all categories located close to the exhibition grounds."
"We are delighted that UBM Live has selected Messe Frankfurt as host for many of their largest shows," says Uwe Behm, member of the Executive Board responsible for Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH. "With this contract, which remains in force until 2021, we have ensured that even more internationally-oriented events will be held here in Frankfurt over the coming years." As a result of this agreement, UBM Live events will regularly supplement Messe Frankfurt's autumn exhibition calendar which already features international flagship fairs such as the IAA Motor Show, the Frankfurt Book Fair, Automechanika and Euromold.
Beyond the organisation of trade fairs, this agreement represents a milestone in sustainability in the industry as UBM Live and Messe Frankfurt also agreed to employ an overall sustainable approach as they continue to develop events. This includes the use of "green" electricity. “A key strategic driver for UBM Live is addressing the sustainability of our events as part of our commitment to Responsible Business. Messe Frankfurt’s enthusiasm in helping us to achieve these goals was a critical factor in taking the partnership forward” said Nik Rudge.
First held in 1990, the 22nd CPhI Worldwide took place in Frankfurt from 25 to 27 October 2011. With more than 1,800 exhibitors and over 28,000 visitors from more than 140 countries in attendance this year, it has become the undisputed market leader in the global pharmaceutical ingredients industry.
In 2010, Messe Frankfurt played host to 17 major guest events. World-renowned public attractions like IAA Cars and the Frankfurt Book Fair and leading international trade events such as ACHEMA, Euromold and IMEX not only reflect the diversity of topics covered by the company's guest event portfolio, but also the different requirements involved in organising these trade fairs.
