Site: Hall 11 live

The striking architecture which characterises the Frankfurt exhibition grounds is an important part of the city's landscape, and from up close it is possible to recognise the various architectural signatures of Oswald Matthias Ungers, Nicolas Grimshaw and Helmut Jahn.

The construction of the new Hall 11 on the Frankfurt exhibition grounds, designed by Hascher Jehle Architektur (Berlin), marks the arrival of yet another unique structure. This functional and contemporary exhibition hall with the West entrance is to be completed to the IAA 2009. It is projected to be a two-storey building with more than 24,000 square metres of exhibition area, as well as a separate entrance building. Together, these two structures will offer some 78,000 square metres of gross floor space.

The laying of the foundation stone on 8 October 2007
The laying of the foundation stone marked the official start of construction work on the new Hall 11 and the West Entrance, yet work on the building has been in full swing since the beginning of August. 24 test borings were drilled in order to test the load-bearing capacity and composition of the subsurface before commencing excavation.
